Posts: 3500 July 14, 2009 11:19 PM Lvl 50 Contra Junkie An Archfiend For All Seasons Gambling Vagabond	Tags : None Apparently there is going to be a 5-disc Ultimate Cut later this year (Christmas I believe) with Tales of the Black Freighter interspersed, Under the Hood and the Complete Motion Comic as bonus materials. Just a heads up. Why not just come out with it now I dunno. Methinks it is the ol' "sell extra copies for no apparent reason" strategy, as made famous by Hideo Kojima. WANT TO ROLL HIM AROUND A BIT? So instead of an 8-month turnaround they went with only a 4 month. But the Ultimate Cut would probably be more around the 8-month turnaround then. They release DVDs when they can make the most money--if a movie comes out in summer the DVD comes out at Christmas, if a movie comes out at Christmas the movie comes out in the summer. Watchmen was released at the wrong time of year anyway, no idea why they didn't go for a May release, but I guess they didn't have any competition any way (plus I'm glad they didn't delay it I hate when they do stuff like that). Every month had a much-anticipated movie...Watchmen might not have had a chance...

Plus you get to see the stupid idiots who brought their little kids sit in stupefied, awkward silence throughout its 168 minute run-time! EDIT: Well they might have left but anyway another batch was coming in with little kids AND their grandmother! Oh, hilarity! Anyway it was actually not very packed, but that's probably because I go to matinees precisely to avoid crowds and for cheaper tickets. You'd be amazed at how few people show up for the Saturday 1PM showing. ANOTHER EDIT: Also this Ulimate Cut is supposed to cost more money than the regular DVD/Blu-Ray Extended Cut so if the extras and Black Freighter interspersement don't float your boat or whatever you COULD buy the regular Special Edition. I'm leaning towards just getting this one and maybe later finding a cheap copy online of the Black Freighter. It won't include any new scenes or footage thats not in this version right? Most of the time it was just sort of there and blending into the rest of him, as he is entirely bright blue, after all. Plus he's CGI, I don't know why people are getting worked up about a CGI penis. There was only one scene where it flopped around and it was only for a second, near the end. When he was confronting Ozzy, in fact, which was pretty funny, actually. I think that would sort of make your argument seem ridiculous but Manhattan pulled it off. Also, Silk Spectre's uselessness was only topped by Nite Owl's uselessness, so yes.
